About the event
In celebration of Mr. Riley’s birthday (September 24th, 1857), we are excited to invite his stepdaughter, Patricia Riley Smith, the last surviving resident of the historic Riley House, back to Tallahassee. On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 6 pm, join us at the John G. Riley Center and Museum to hear stories of her early life in the Smokey Hollow community and experience a guided tour with someone who lived with the prominent educator and community leader in her youth. Although born and raised in Tallahassee, the long-time resident of Atlanta retired from city administration after 28 years of service as director of Finance and Administration.
We will welcome Mrs. Smith during our open house event from 3 to 6 p.m. Stop by the museum and visit our “Antebellum” exhibit before the lecture and guided tour, starting at 6. We look forward to welcoming our members and museum friends back! Light refreshments will be served.
“Reengagement with Riley” is one of our themes this year! If you are not a member or if your membership has expired, please consider renewing and supporting the museum today. Each membership helps the Riley Center and Museum continue to provide enriching programs and cultural experiences year-round. Your support and generosity make our success possible.
