Drawing from his award-winning documentary Invisible Warriors, Gregory Cooke’s lecture shares the stories of the African American women who made vital contributions during World War II while overcoming the dual barriers of racism and sexism. He highlights their resilience as they broke into industrial jobs and government administrative roles that had previously been closed to them.
Through this lecture, Cooke emphasizes how these “Invisible Warriors” played a crucial role in the war effort, as well as their lasting impact on American history and the ongoing fight for equality.
