Landmarks and Legacies: A Guide to Tallahassee's African American Heritage, 1865-1968

Landmarks and Legacies: An African American Tour of Tallahassee

African Americans have an rich and extensive history here in Leon County. From the days of slavery to the height of Reconstruction, African Americans have left their imprint on Tallahassee. On the Landmarks and Legacies Heritage Tour, our tour guides retraces the black presence throughout the city of Tallahassee, from neighborhoods and communities to schools and historic homes, and help you to relive the struggles and triumphs of Tallahassee's African American community.

  • The Union Bank Building
  • The Old Capitol Building
  • Frenchtown
  • Old Lincoln High School
  • Florida A&M University
  • The Knott House Museum

Schedule your tour today!

Tour guides are $100.00 per bus per tour. Average tours last approximately 2-3 hours, but can be adjusted to meet your unique needs. The fee only covers the cost of the tour guide; groups are responsible for securing their own tranportation. Fee does not cover admission fees for individual sites.
