Exciting New Project - Remembering Dr. Alpha Omega Campbell:  In 2009, the John G. Riley Museum was commissioned by the City of Tallahassee to document the life of Dr. Alpha Omega Campbell.  The project was funded through a grant provided by the City of Tallahassee, Council on Culture and Arts (COCA).  The initiative included the production of an informative brochure and a book ("A Good And Kindly Heart") that chronicles Dr Campbell's life experiences and contributions to our community.  The paperback edition is available for  a donation of $15.00 at the John G. Applause for the Pioneers Cufflinks and Pearls Gala Friday, February 19, 2010 honoring Dr. Howard Roberts, owner of Economy Drugstore, Dr. Billy and Mrs. Kathleen Baker, owners of Baker's Pharmacy (posthumously) and Mrs. Roberts, Dr. Robert's widow and co-owner of Economy. Honorary Chairs: Dr. Henry Lewis, Dean, School of Pharmacy at Florida A&M University and Duncan Moore, Former Administrator, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Read more..

Original owner of the Riley House - A National Register Property
-Born into slavery on September 24, 1857 in Leon County;
-Pursued a career in education and became a teacher;
-Served as principal of Lincoln Academy from 1893 to 1926;
-Owned substantial properties in downtown Tallahassee;
-Grand High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons of Florida 33rd Degree Mason;
-Secretary of the Tallahassee NAACP;
-Member of the Negro Business League;
-Married to Nellie Riley-Father of five children (John, James, Sarah, Marilyn, and Emlin)
-Married Mozena Riley
-Died in 1954 at age 97
